ExperienceI'm a tutor who is based out of New York City, where I enjoy kickboxing, reading, and practicing Brazilian jiu jitsu when I'm not in the classroom working with students. I have my bachelor's degree in chemistry from Adelphi University, and I'm a current graduate student in chemistry at Stony Brook University. As a tutor, I'm able to help students in the field of chemistry. Going into undergraduate, I thought that I would major in nursing because I loved helping people. However, as I began taking my nursing courses I discovered a hidden passion for chemistry. This led me to change my major to chemistry, and set me on an entirely different path. It was a difficult decision for me to major in chemistry, because it was not a subject that I was naturally gifted at. I had to work very hard to understand the concepts of chemistry and to work through the problems. My struggles in pursuing my passion of chemistry make me uniquely equipped to help students who are going through the same thing I had to. I can relate completely to that feeling of just not getting a topic in chemistry. However, I firmly believe that every student has the ability to master chemistry with the right dedication and some guidance. As a tutor, I seek to provide each of my students with the guidance that they need to reach their academic goals. I do this by providing individualized lesson plans that take the needs of each individual student into account. This allows my students to focus on their specific areas of weakness, and come out of our tutoring session better equipped to tackle their chemistry course.
